Deep sea expedition
2024 We packed up all of our kit and travelled downunder to help visualise the Bounty Trough expedition off New Zealand for Ocean Census and their quest to find new ocean species.
It was a long one! - 4 weeks on land and 3 weeks at sea.
100 new species found
2024 Video East created daily content and made short films highlighting the Ocean Census Scientists incredible work as they discovered over 100 new marine species including fish, shrimp and corals. Our coverage was shown by news outlets worldwide including the BBC, CNN, ABC, CBS,TVNZ, New York Times and New Scientist
We Fought Them in Gunboats
2024 After hugely succesful screenings in Woodbridge, Aldeburgh and Ipswich - our latest documentary gets an outing to Felixstowe and the former home to HMS Beehive a Gunboat HQ which is now Felixstowe docks (May 16th)

Into the Deep
2022 What a privilege it was to take part in this Expedition. I found myself 500 metres down in the Indian Ocean in a submersible with sharks and rays gliding by and add to that I officialy became an Aquanaut.

We were searching for a WW2 aircraft wreck 70 metres down in the Aegean Sea. But that's another story!

Art at the Abbey
2020 Filming and recording the latest work of glass artist Arabella Marshall.
'A Wing and a Prayer' is a large, colourful contemporary glass “window” fused into the ancient ruined chapel which stands in the grasslands of RSPB Minsmere. Thanks to Natural England and RSPB Minsmere for their support with filming at this sensitive, natural habitat. Film now on release.
Filming and editing via Zoom
2020 Had the pleasure of working with some very talented young film-makers as a Cameraman /Editor for the BFI Academy. The shoot and post were done remotely via Zoom allowing the students to view camera angles live and then later make decisions in real time in the edit. Live broadcast with our ATEM Mini Pro. Yellow Submarine
2020 With an upcoming documentary in mind we took the plunge and purchased an underwater drone. The technology is not quite there yet for high-end broadcast filming, but as with aerial drones, we like to be ahead of the game. Shoots 4K. Can also mount a GoPro on ROV. 100 m tether.

2020 English Willow plant, manage and supply willow tree wood to make cricket bats. We were hired to film aerials for their promo at one of their plantations in Suffolk.Turned out to be a very nice film by DOP Ben Clowes

2020 The Tide Mill in Woodbridge gets a new paint job.
One of only a handful of tide mills in the world still producing flour on a regular basis and among the first mills in the country,
working on the same site for well over 800 years.
Last days of a Lighthouse
2020 Before the crazy world of COVID-19 the Orfordness Lighthouse was about to be demolished. Ravaged by the elements it will soon fall into the sea. We were asked to get the some drone images to remember it by.

We helped find the premises, oversaw the studio set design and supplied all of the lighting, kit , camera crews and editing to help produce one of their successful, ongoing weekly shows.
Sony FX9 with 6K sensor
2020 Video East adds the Sony FX9 to it's kit offering. The long awaited successor to the legendary FS7, it brings some fantastic upgrades with it. The FX9 has a Full Frame 6K dual native ISO sensor, VENICE colour science, upgraded auto-focus capabilities, built in genlock and timecode and much more.

Book on the Deben
2019 We are still very proud of our film Life on the Deben. The film has now morphed into a book, co-authored by Nick Cottam and Tim Curtis and was a Waterstones (Ipswich) best seller over Christmas.

The Suffolk Punch Trust & The Royal British Legion
JANUARY 2019 Stanley's War filmmaker Tim Curtis was privileged to be part of the team to hand over £14,000 to two worthy local charities. The Peninsula Poppy Project which commissioned Stanley's War, was set up by Fanny Jacob to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the WW1 Armistice. As well as raising funds the project engaged people in art, film and remembrance across Suffolk.
Sutton Hoo's new visitor centre and experience
JANUARY 2019 Video East supplied the National Trust Sutton Hoo with drone shots and dramatic Anglo-Saxon re-enactor footage filmed on the river Deben, for their new revamp films.
Dazzle Ship Learning & Engagement films
DECEMBER 2018 Video East supplied crew and editing for a series of learning and engagement films about the influences of WW1 on contemporary art. Filmed at Chelsea Arts College the project involved over 1000 students.
STANLEY'S WAR - DRAMA DOCUMENTARY
2018 Stanley’s War, produced and directed by Tim Curtis, dramatises stories of love and sacrifice, following the lives of Suffolk people during WW1.
The film recounts the true life-changing experiences at the Western Front of Stanley Banyard, a farm hand from Suffolk, and how he saved the lives of his comrades. Cinema release. A Motion East Production.
BRITAIN'S POPPIES. WW1 REMEMBERED
2018 ITV Special documentary telling personal stories of Britain at war, told by the families who bought a poppy from the Tower of London.
Video East shot and supplied all of the location footage from the Poppies Tour.
THE POPPIES TOUR
2015- 2018 14-18 NOW toured the iconic poppy sculptures Wave and Weeping Window by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper, during the First World War centenary between 2015 and 2018.
The sculptures visited 19 locations around the UK and were seen by over 4.6 million people. Weeping Window and Wave have now become part of the Imperial War Museums’ collection.
Video East provided the official production crew for the tour including film crew, drone and editing.
